This necklace is part of my Alpine Collection, a salute to our beautiful natural world, inspired by my life in the Eastern Sierra.
I hand fabricated this piece in Sterling Silver w a 3mm red Garnet gemstone.
Garnet, the birthstone of January, hold cultural significance in various parts of the world. In some cultures, garnets were believed to offer protection from harm and bring good fortune' they have also been associated with concepts like regenerations, vitality and strength.
Pendant measures approximately 7/8" long x 1/2" wide, and hangs on an 18" sterling silver chain.
I used traditional metalsmithing techniques to hand saw each element, then layer and solder onto the sterling silver small heart shaped pendant.
Each piece individually hand sawn, textured, layered and soldered, so that no two are exactly alike.
