Dendritic Opal is a form of common opal, and not a form of precious opal. Dendritic opal has black “dendrites” running through it, which are actually mineral inclusions that appear tree-like, combined with the coloring it can look like little winter scenes.. The dendrites themselves are made of metallic oxide inclusions. These branch-like forms grow through the stone creating the striking patterns. Each stone's markings are unique, similar to a snowflake.
